Sub-Saharan Equities

Exotix is an institutional-focused securities firm actively covering the sub-Saharan stockmarkets. Exotix provides in depth, independent research and execution capabilities across 14 African markets (excluding South Africa). We act in an advisory capacity, helping clients establish custody and settlement arrangements throughout the sub-Saharan region. Exotix is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Our African equities business has three integrated business units, described below:

Our global team have extensive investment experience within the African region across investment banking, commercial banking, brokerage, fund management, private equity and management consulting. We serve a global client base, including emerging market-focussed institutions and hedge funds, as well as contacts within the official sector and the Development Finance Institutions ( DFI’s ).

Equity Trading

Exotix maintains strong links with multiple local brokers, banks, advisors and institutional investors within each African market. We have established active trading relationships with 23 African brokerage firms in 14 countries across the region. ICAP Plc, a 19.9% shareholder of Exotix Ltd and FTSE100 company, acts as a gurantor on all trades and settlements. In addition to acting as a settlement agent, ICAP conducts all “KYC” requirements on behalf of our clients. We offer expertise in trading locally listed African equities and global depositary receipts ( GDRs ) of African companies listed on European and North American exchanges. The trading department can advise on how to custody client funds in the sub-Saharan markets, as well as provide insight to the various costs associated with each stock exchange. Our significant African market presence ensures that we remain at the forefront of primary and secondary market trading.

Equity Sales

Exotix has an experienced team of salespeople located in London, New York, Argentina and Japan. These professionals are responsible for identifying suitable investment ideas and generating liquidity for our clients. We are particularly effective in trading large blocks of stock with minimal market impact due to our extensive client relationships, including local brokers, pension funds, offshore investors, and corporates themselves. Exotix will provide insight and strategic recommendations across the sub-Saharan stock markets. Our dedicated sales team facilitate access to corporate management and organise research trips to the region. Exotix includes hedge funds, pension funds, endowments, institutional funds, private equity and corporates among its client base.
